Media personality and internet sensation, Toke Makinwa, is set to take on the lead role in an international tourism film titled “180 Nigeria.” As reported by Premium Times.
“180 Nigeria” is poised to be a family-friendly film that will serve as a vibrant showcase of Nigeria’s rich culture, deep-rooted traditions, cherished values, iconic landmarks, and, most significantly, the vibrant spirit of its people.
This exciting project is a collaborative effort between Pinnaclemena Media Nigeria, Oxygen, and the Temple Company, who recently unveiled the details of the production during a press briefing held at Ogidi Studios in Lekki, Lagos.
Toke Makinwa, who not only assumes the lead role but also acts as the project’s executive producer, shared her thoughts on the endeavor. She expressed her admiration for the compelling script, describing it as a powerful message to humanity. She stated, “As much as I love acting, I have been thinking about the next step in my career, and this movie seemed to be the right opportunity for me to don the hat of an executive producer and have my input in the development of this movie.”
The movie is set to debut in early 2024 and will explore 10 out of the 36 states in Nigeria. Filming will also take place in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
180 Nigeria’s director, Bunmi Ajakaiye, described the movie as a means to capture African women in a new frame.
She said, “I am incredibly passionate about telling stories from the female gaze. The African woman is one of the most intriguing, compelling, and complex characters ever – capturing her triumphs, sacrifices, fearlessness, and freedom through the lens will never lose its appeal.”
“180 Nigeria” has been introduced as an ambitious undertaking aimed at revitalizing the Nigerian tourism sector and making a substantial impact on the film industry.
