Popular actor and singer Idowu Adeyemi, better known as Yhemolee, has expressed deep concern over the recent surge in fuel prices and the escalating economic hardships facing Nigerians.
Yhemolee highlighted that the current economic crisis is impacting even the affluent members of society. He pointed out that foreign currencies, including the British Pounds and the United States Dollars, have substantially appreciated against the Nigerian Naira in the exchange market, exacerbating the financial struggles for many citizens.
The actor lamented the severe consequences of the hike in fuel prices, stating that numerous Nigerians are now unable to commute to their workplaces and conduct their businesses due to the soaring pump prices.
Yhemolee said, “This administration brutal o. Even the rich are crying.
“Yesterday, I spent 15 minutes from Oniru, VI [Victoria Island] to Lekki Camp, that’s almost to Epe. 15 minutes, road clear on a working day. People didn’t go out? You didn’t see petrol?
“One Pounds is now N1100, one dollar is N850. It cost me N52,000 to fill my range rover and N32,000 for my Chevrolet. That is N80,000 plus for petrol of car. And I will fill both two times in a week. N160,000 in a week for petrol times four that is N640,000 in a month.”
