In a recent interview on TVC’s popular program ‘Your View,’ Dabota Lawson, the former beauty queen, shared her experiences and reflections on her tumultuous divorce from Prince Sunny Aku in 2014.
During the interview, Dabota Lawson revealed that her ex-husband eventually reached out to her seeking forgiveness. Although she has moved on from that chapter of her life, she expressed that she was able to forgive him, stating, “He contacted me and apologised for a lot of things, but I have moved past that stage. I’m not emotionally invested in it, so I was able to forgive, and we have been fine since then.”
Dabota disclosed that she sought solace with her parents after the divorce, recounting how her parents welcomed her back without bombarding her with inquiries. She expressed her gratitude, saying, “My parents were so happy to have me back; my dad and my mother didn’t ask any questions. Nobody really wanted to stress me about it. I just went home and was fine,” she stated.
Dabota, known for her past triumphs as a beauty queen, tied the knot with successful businessman Aku in a grand ceremony attended by prominent individuals in December 2015. At the time, she was 23 years old, while her husband was 58 years old. The significant 35-year age gap attracted attention and criticism, but Lawson defended her decision, asserting that love triumphed over age.
The couple welcomed their daughter into the world on Saturday, October 8, 2016. However, the following year, Lawson filed for divorce.
