Founder of FCMB, Chief Subomi Michael Balogun has died at the age of 89 in a London hospital.
Chief Subomi Balogun had his secondary education at Igbobi College and furthered his education in law at the London School of Economics.
He served as a lawyer in the regional justice ministry and then at the federal ministry of justice, before venturing into banking.
Chief Subomi Balogun established FCMB in 1979 after spending decades pioneering Icon Securities as director of operations, a subsidiary of Nigerian Industrial Development Bank ( (NIDB) which specialized in merchant banking as director of operations.
He is also a direct descendant of Oba Tunwase of Ijebu-Ode and before his death held the chieftaincy title Otunba Tunwase of Ijebuland.
His contributions to the society and development of Nigeria will not be forgotten. May his gentle soul rest in peace
