Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson of the President-elect, has reiterated his comment that Igbos should refrain from interfering in the politics of Lagos State. Onanuga clarified that his statement was aimed at protecting the interests of the Yoruba people in Lagos, and he owes no one an apology for it.
He had issued the warning after the governorship election and maintained that the 2023 elections should be the last time Igbos interfere in Lagos politics, as the state belongs to the Yoruba.
Onanuga restated his position on Twitter and emphasized that his views are his personal opinions, adding that he prioritizes being a Yoruba before being a Nigerian.
