The IREDE Foundation was born out of a desire to change the societal stigma and discrimination associated with disability in Nigeria and Africa at large by helping child amputees live a fulfilled life.
The journey of The Irede Foundation began on a personal note and lots of lives have experienced a positive turnaround because of this personal experience, this goes to show that our experiences carry a purpose waiting to be born.
In October 2022, they celebrated their tenth year anniversary as a non-profit organization. In the past ten years, The Irede Foundation as a non-profit organization has reached and catered to the needs of over 350 children with limb loss. Their primary focus is to enable child amputees to live independent and limitless life by providing them with prosthetic limbs at zero cost.
Beyond providing prosthetic limbs, they advocate for the inclusion of Persons With Disabilities through their annual advocacy walk which holds in various locations globally. They also recently rolled out a disability-focused comic book, the very first of its kind in Africa, IREDIANS. The comic book focuses on educating children/students on disability, through the portrayal of Persons with Disabilities as SuperHeroes. The comic book is presently being distributed in schools across the country. They’ve organized six Out On A Limb Walk campaigns about disability, inclusion, and child amputees. It can only get better!
This year alone, they have given out 103 limbs of hundred and fifty which is their target for 2022. However, they still have over 400 children on their waitlist, with referrals coming in daily from across the country.
One of the ways in which they’ve been able to achieve the above is through the financial support of their partners, donors, and stakeholders who have also come to believe this dream that every child deserves to live a limitless life. More still needs to be done as they have over 400 children with limb loss on our waitlist.
They humbly request for your financial support through your kind donations and resources to meet the needs of the children on our waitlist and they believe that with your kind donations, they can help restore hope to children.
