After the shooting at Christchurch over a month ago, Facebook has revealed that it is set to prevent erring users from accessing the live stream option on the platform. This decision was communicated by the Facebook’s vice president of integrity; Guy Rosen, through a press release on Tuesday night. In the press release, they stated they would; “prevent users who violate “our most serious policies” from using Facebook Live for “set periods of time — for example 30 days — starting on their first offence.”

“We plan on extending these restrictions to other areas over the coming weeks, beginning with preventing those same people from creating ads on Facebook,” This would serve a measure to curb the virality of sensitive content as the mosque attack that leftover 51 people dead was streamed live by the shooter who is a white supremacist from Australia.
