The National Executive Committee of the African Action Congress has suspended former presidential elect; Omoyele Sowore as its National Chairman along with six other members of the party. The decision was reached as a result of alleged anti-party activities, failure to convene NEC meeting as well as financial misappropriation. The decision was made at its 2nd National Executive Committee meeting held on 27th March 2019 in Abuja.

The suspension of the seven members of the party was said to have taken effect from March 27th as stated in a communique read Mazi Okwy, who is also a member of the party’s National Executive Committee. Subsequently, Dr. Leonard Ezenwa has been appointed as the acting National Chairman of the party. The suspension would reportedly last for a period of six months.
