Kazuyoshi Miura, 52, has extended his contract with J2-League outfit, Yokohama FC.
Miura, who started his professional career with Brazilian side, Santos in 1986 at the age of 19, broke Stanley Mathew’s record as the oldest professional player to score a goal when he scored in 2017 at the age of 50.
He is conscious of his age and intends to take every moment seriously.
“I will not waste it for one minute, one second.” He said.
“I think I want to go face to face with football and to daily training with maximum power.” He added.
Muira who was born in 1967 made his Japan debut in 1990 and scored 55 goals in 89 appearances for the national team. He retired from international football in 2000, two years after he was controversially omitted from the Japanese squad to the 1998 world cup despite scoring 14 goals in the qualifiers.
He was also the MVP and highest goal scorer of the inaugural Japanese J-league season in 1993, and also won the Asian Player of The Year award the same year.
In Europe he has also played for Italian side Genoa and won the Croatian league with Dinamo Zagreb in 1999.
He joined Yokohama FC in 2005, and has played over 250 times for them in the league.
