The Nigerian Super Eagles have advanced to the finals of AFCON 2023 as the team secured a hard-fought victory over Bafana Bafana of South Africa with a final score of 4 – 2.
The Super Eagles took the lead in the second half as Ekong scored through a penalty after Osimhen was fouled in the 18-yard box. The goal gave the Nigerian team a much-needed boost. However, South Africa fought back strongly as Teboho Mokoena equalized a few minutes to the end of the second half.
The game then went into extra time and both teams continued to fight for a place in the finals. However, despite several close chances, neither team was able to score a goal. The match then advanced into a penalty shootout.
In the penalty, Kelechi Iheanacho scored the final goal for Nigeria to seal the victory. However, this victory wouldn’t be complete without Stanley Nwabali, the Super Eagles goalkeeper. He made two crucial saves during the penalty shootout to secure a spot for his team in the finals. The star goalkeeper was awarded the Man of the Match.
Nigerians can agree that this was the toughest match the team has played in AFCON 2023.
