The Nigerian Music industry is one of the most vibrant music industries in Africa, with a mix of talented male and female individuals. Since 2018 began we have been given hits that have made our playlist lit such as Lova Lova, Maradona and the likes, we’ve also been graced with amazing performances from various artist such as Yemi alade, Burna boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage and the rest. There’s an excitement in the air. Can you feel it? It’s a little like waiting for Santa to arrive on Christmas Eve, only better. So much better, Its event season!! The year is slowly coming to an end and we still want more performances especially from our talented female artists. Here is a list of female artist we hope to see on stage before the end of this year, in no particular order.
Waje- Waje born Aituaje Iruobe, is a Nigerian singer whose vocal range covers three octaves. Waje is an acronym for “Words aren’t just enough”. She has blessed us with hits like “i wish”, Ominiknowest and if you ask me. The award-winning singer is a vibrant musician and an energetic performer and we need that energy to lead us into 2019!!
Omawunmi- Omawumi Megbele is a vivacious singer, songwriter and actress prominent in Nigeria’s music scene. She is a zealous performer who never disappoints and it is sad to see that she has not blessed us with any performance this year. She has gifted us with hits like Today na today, warn yourself and in the music. We hope to get a performance from her before the year ends.
Niniola- Niniola Apata who is popularly known as NINIOLA is a singer, songwriter and performer. The fiery singer has a vocal range that can crack a glass and takes her influences from the likes of Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, The Cranberries, Madonna, Beyoncé and Yoruba(African) music, and uses them to shape her own style. Her hit song “Maradonna” has been making waves around the globe and many of her other songs like Sicker and Ibadi. She is set to perform at the 2018 Human Radio concert which is scheduled to hold on November 9. She is set to perform alongside Reminisce, Aramide, Mayorkun, Mr Real, Terry Apala, Slimcase, Immaculate, Johnny Drille, Teni, Oladips, Godwin Strings, Tyson Noir and Soti. This is definitely a concert to look out for, so save the date!
Teni- That’s the name that rings across all platforms in Nigeria. Since December 2016 she worked her way up to not only our playlist but our hearts. She has proven to be a bag of talent, She sings when she wants, drops covers across all media platforms, freestyles, and shines her talent upon all who care to listen. Her biggest hit “fargin and wait” are one of the few songs teni has to offer. Although she is set to be a guest performer at the niniola’s human radio concert on November 9, we would also want to see more of her. Drop some showcase of talent before the year ends Teni!
Simi- Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye also known as Simplysimi is a talented singer and songwriter who has written hits such as “Joromi” and “Ara”. She is known for being able to please a crowd with her unique voice and looks and we definitely hope she gives us a performance before the year runs out.
- Tiwa Savage-Tiwatope Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage, is an artist who specializes in a form of dance-pop that that synthesizes Afropop, reggae, and contemporary R&B.The singer and songwriter gave us amazing hits this year such as Lova Lova and Sugarcane and its only right to end the year with a bang. So we’re patiently expecting to start seeing tickets for end of year show soon!
Yemi Alade- Yemi Alade is one of Nigeria’s most prominent musician and singer, who performs in Afropop and R&B style. Her hit track “Jonny” was the most viewed musical video on YouTube in its time than any other female artist in Nigeria. She also released some hits this year such knack am and oh my gosh. Her music effortlessly reaches international borders and if you listen to her music then you certainly will understand why she is a huge star. Her stage performances tend to leave a permanent print your memory and would leave you begging for more. This is why we are pleading for another one to get our bodies movinng into 2019.
Seyi Shay- Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua who goes by the stage name ‘ Seyi Shay’ is a Nigerian based singer-songwriter, recording artist, performer, and record producer. One of her most popular hits, “Loving your way” was a vibe throughout the country She has performed at various A-list events and concerts. One of her most noteworthy moments on stage was when she performed the hit song, “Bad” alongside international rap sensation, Wale at the Johnnie Walker Step Up to VIP Lifestyle Launch event. We hope to see more of her before the year runs out.
Asa- Bukola Elemide, popularly known by her stage name “Asa” is a Nigerian-french singer. The name asa means “hawk” in Yoruba, no wonder she gets your spirit flying whenever she hits the stage. She has blessed us with hits like Jailer, Satan be gone and Bibanke. She is one of the most sensational artrist to emerge from Nigeria. We hope she decides to bless us with her wonderful flows soon.
Nneka – Nneka Egbuna is a Nigerian hip hop/soul singer who is based in Germany. This is yet another sensational artist to emerge from Nigeria. With hits like Heartbeat, My love my love and Do you love me now the artist has touched the hearts of many around the globe. We hope to see a performance from her before the year runs out.
Chidinma- Chidinma Ekile, simply known as Chidinma AKA “Miss Kedike” is in no doubt one of the most talented artist in the Nigeria music industry. The same year she won the talent show she took part of, she released her hit singles “Jankoliko”and “kedike” which won her the Kora Awards for the Best Female West African Act. Wouldn’t you love to vibe with her this coming holiday? I know I would.
