On the 27th of November, 2015, one of Africa’s most influential personality, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde was a guest of the African union at the First Ever African summit on child marriage which was held at Lusaka, Zambia.
In attendance at the summit were the zambian First Lady, Esther Lungu, South Africa’s First Lady Tobeka Zuma and Ethiopia First Lady Roman Tesfaye.
The host president, Edgar Lungu stated that he’s not interested in curbing child marriage but eliminating it. Omotola who was a speaker at the event, spoke on the ways Movies and media can help eradicate child marriages from Africa.
The summit also had in attendance representatives from the Ford foundation, UNFPA, the Canadian govt and many more… At the opening, Omotola wore a red beautiful traditional outfit by Zambian designer chizo by chidima lombe.
