Despite spending millions of dollars on campaigns, pro marijuana campaigners suffered a let down as voters were overwhelmingly in favor of not legalizing marijuana.
A proposed constitutional amendment called “issue 3” would have paved the way for anyone over 21 to buy marijuana for personal and medical use. If the vote had passed, Ohio would have been the fifth state in America to legalize marijuana.
Unlike the other four states, Ohio would have been a bit different as the proposal came with a clause that marijuana would only be grown at 10 pre-designated sites.
A two third majority voted against the constitutional amendment making marijuana illegal for recreational use in Ohio.
