Policemen fired stun grenades at protesting students as they attempted to force their way into the Parliament. The students were protesting a proposed hike in tuition fees in Universities across South Africa.
Policemen also reportedly fired rubber bullets at students as the week long protests show no signs of abating. Student groups have rejected plans by the government to cap fee increase at 6% for 2016 as most students have boycotted classes to drive home the message of their displeasure.
Three students were reportedly injured after the Police clashed with protesters outside the Parliamentary complex in Cape Town.
