The Football Association has added to a list of woes for Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in what is shaping up to be a forgettable season for him.
After pleading guilty to an FA charge of misconduct, Jose Mourinho faces a one match Ban as well as a £50,000 fine following his comments after his team lost 3-1 to Southampton on October 3.
An irate Mourinho was quick to slate officials in his post match comments, claiming match officials were too “afraid” to award his team penalties.
” I think, first of all, I want to say that because we are in such a bad moment you should not be afraid to be honest,” he said.
“When we are at the top there is quite big pleasure in putting us down. But when you are so down I think it is time to be honest and say clearly that referees are afraid to give decisions to Chelsea.”
The Football Association did not take kindly to Mourinho’s comments and have slapped him with a match Ban for implying “bias on the part of the official” .
The ban will only be invoked if Mourinho breaches another FA Rule relating to comments before October 13, 2016.
Mourinho has seen his team struggle this season, suffering a fourth loss of the season against Southampton.
