The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of four individuals who are suspected to be allies of the insurgency group Boko Haram.
Despite a three month deadline to stamp out terrorism, the Nigerian Army has been unable to prevent Boko Haram from hitting a number of soft targets in the past week.
The four suspects were arrested today in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. The Director, Army Public Relations confirmed the arrests.
A suspected financier of Boko Haram, identified as Mohammed Maina, was arrested by soldiers of the 21 Brigade and three others were also arrested today.
Col. Usman disclosed that “The arrested terrorist has been making very useful statements and giving more insights in the activities of the terrorists and their collaborators.
“This has been yielding positive results and in a follow-up today, three collaborators: Jikana Alhaji Goni, aged 29; Alhaji Musa Alhaji Modu, 37; and Alhaji Aba’ana Na Alhaji Sule 40, all of Hausari Ward Maiduguri, were arrested and are being interrogated.”
