Nigeria is often a theatre of the bizarre and even the most cynical of us can sometimes be taken aback by developments.
When you think the bar cannot be set any lower, a person or group takes it upon themselves to lower it even further.
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) yesterday honored Senator Buruji Kashamu as its “Golden Man of the year”.
It is unclear on what basis NANS made its decision, seeing as the recipient of the award has spent the larger part of the year fighting off his extradition.
Kashamu is wanted in Britain for allegedly heading a drug cartel and is often named as the basis for the TV series “Orange is the new black” .
The recent award has focused attention on NANS which has long been dismissed as a politicized organisation with little or no credibility.
