Lifetime is a female-focused entertainment network and is a subsidiary of A + E Networks Africa. The Regional Director A+E Networks Africa, Anthea pethersen, said at the MultiChoice Content Show case held in Mauritius earlier this month “ we are so excited to bring the best wedding shows to Africa… there will be some fiery brides, complex relationships and enough drama to keep Lifetime viewers glued to their screen every week”.
Some of the commissioned shows include Four Weddings SA which debuts on October 16, 2015 at 20h20 and features four different brides with different ideas of the perfect day as they attend each other’s wedding before deciding whose wedding was the best. The winner gets a an all-expense paid dream honeymoon. Mikie Saves the Date premiers on October 2nd at 20h00 and showcases event planner Mike Russo as he creates unique and personalized weddings for his clients while handling difficult situations. Reality stars will try to save their marriages in Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars as five famous couples will try to decide if their marriage is worth saving or if they are better off apart.
A series that spotlights on traditional coupling in the 21st century which premiers later on this year. Arranged shows three couples in their first three months after going through arranged marriage ceremonies as they navigate the road from wedding day to marital bliss. Married at First Sight returns for the second season in January 2016 and features six people who agree to participate in an extreme social experiment where each contestant agrees to get married to a complete stranger. The relationships, honeymoons and other events from such marriages are documented after which the couple decide whether to remain together or go their separate ways.
