John Boehner has announced his decision to resign as Speaker of the U.S House of Representatives. The 65 year old member of the Republican party has announced that he will vacate his position by the end of October.
John Boehner has served as speaker for five years and his unprecedented resignation opens up a new race for the position of Speaker.
He has been often been criticized by his party members who accuse him of frequent compromises with President Barrack Obama.
Boehner, tearful as the Pope gave his speech yesterday was also tearful as he announced his decision today as he said “I’m doing this today for the right reasons, And the right things will happen as a result.”
