The Anambra state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the suspension of National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh.
Metuh, a prominent personality within the opposition party has been suspended on allegations of embezzlement of party funds as well as anti-party activities.
In a press statement by the Anambra PDP, Metuh allegedly “openly worked against re-election of ex-President Goddluck Jonathan after embezzling over N300 million given to him by the ex-President.
“He publicly disrespected the ex-President after our party lost the March 28 Presidential Election. He demanded that Jonathan should give an account of his stewardship.”
“He seized from Nnamdi Nwangu (Campaign Co-ordinator of the ex-President in Metuh’s local government and embezzled over N12 million sent there for the presidential election in Nnewi-North and released no dime from of it. The presidential election was executed financially by friends of the Ex-President after Metuh had embezzled the funds meant for the presidential election in his local government area.
“Obtaining money under false pretence by submitting names of 25 persons as members of Anambra House of Assembly, thereby deceiving the presidency that they were statutory delegates (while they were not), and so used this fraud to collect over $260,000 meant for them during the December 2014 PDP Convention and embezzling same without giving to those persons he fraudulently used their names to collect this huge sum.”
The party has revealed that Chief Metuh is also being investigated by the Nigerian Police force.
