Haiti’s uncertain political situation is on the road to some resolution today as legislative elections hold in the country today.
The elections have been postponed severally since 2011 leaving President Michel Martelly to rule by decree since January.
The police force has been deployed in large numbers to prevent any possibility of violence in a country where poverty remains the biggest problem. The Presidential election is still some way off and is scheduled for October 25.
UN peacekeepers are also on hand to boost security.
