Singapore marks its 50th Independence anniversary in grand style today while simultaneously paying tribute to its iconic leader founding, Lee Kuan Yew.
Singapore attained its independence on August 9, 1965, after being kicked out of the Malaysian Federation and has since that time transformed itself into an envy of the world by sheer political will and the vision of its founding father.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said in a locally televised speech, “At 50 years, as we stand at a high base camp, we look back and marvel at how how far we have come,”
