A woman who accused US rapper Jay-Z of raping her when she was 13 has said her allegations were false.

The woman, identified as Jane Doe in court documents, made the admission in a 12-page declaration filed in a Manhattan federal court on Thursday.

Doe sued Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, and Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2024. She alleged that the two men drugged and raped her at a party after the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000.

Both men denied the allegations.

In her latest declaration, Doe said she had never met or spoken to Carter. She also said the rapper never acted inappropriately towards her.

“Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr Carter. Mr Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever,” she wrote.

Doe also said her claims against Carter and Combs were false.

“My claims that Mr Carter and Mr Combs raped me while a third celebrity, [name redacted] watched are false. There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr Carter.”

Woman acknowledges impact on Jay-Z

Doe acknowledged the effect of her allegations on Carter and his family.

“I understand my false accusations have caused Mr Carter immense pain, suffering, and damage that can never be fully undone,” she said.

She also said Carter or anyone acting on his behalf had not paid or promised her money for the declaration.

Doe first sued Combs in October 2024. Carter became a defendant after she filed an amended complaint in December.

She later withdrew the lawsuit in February 2025.

Carter then sued Doe and her former lawyers, including attorney Tony Buzbee. He accused them of malicious prosecution, defamation and other claims.

The rapper had described the original allegations as “frivolous, fictitious and appalling” and accused his accusers of attempting to blackmail him.

Doe has now been removed from Carter’s lawsuit. His case against her former lawyers continues.

Buzbee has denied wrongdoing. He has also maintained that his firm believed Doe’s allegations when it pursued the case.

A California appeals court earlier this month declined Carter’s attempt to revive separate claims against Buzbee.

Carter, who is married to singer Beyoncé, previously spoke about the effect of the allegations on his family.
