Popular celebrity fashion designer Veekee James has defended her frequent public appearances with her husband, Femi Atere, declaring that “his life is mine and my life is his” after an online critic questioned why the couple attend events together.
The criticism emerged after Veekee and Atere were spotted together at the wedding of TikTok creator Peller. A Snapchat user identified as Laura reacted to their appearance, asking: “Does this man have a life of his own? Must he follow you everywhere? Did you see your friend’s husband there? You don turn am to handbag”.
Responding to the remark, Veekee made it clear that she sees her marriage as a partnership in which she and her husband are inseparable.
“My husband doesn’t have a life of his own. His life is my life. In the same way, I don’t have a life of my own; my life is his life. He is me, and I’m him. Together, we are like a padlock and key,” she said.
The fashion entrepreneur also dismissed the criticism, insisting that her husband’s presence at events alongside her should not be a concern to others.
“When you marry your own husband, you can separate him from your life if you want. But as for mine, he is me, and I’m him. You don’t know what marriage is. His life is mine, and my life is his.
“You haven’t even seen anything yet. You will see my husband and me together anywhere and everywhere possible.”
Veekee and Atere have become one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity couples, often sharing moments from their personal and professional lives on social media.
