Trump weighs presidential clemency for Diddy

President Donald Trump is considering granting clemency to Sean “Diddy” Combs in the coming days. The music mogul is among several high-profile people under review for possible presidential pardons.

CBS News reported that Trump plans to pardon several people convicted of emissions and clean-air-related offences. The report said he is also reviewing possible clemency for Diddy and other well-known figures.

Trump will meet with advisers before making a final decision. They will discuss recommendations for the latest round of pardons. However, the White House has not confirmed whether Combs will receive clemency.

Another person seeking a presidential pardon is Prakazrel “Pras” Michel of the hip-hop group The Fugees. The Grammy Award-winning rapper is serving a 14-year federal prison sentence. A court convicted him of conspiring with Malaysian financier Jho Low to run foreign lobbying campaigns aimed at influencing the US government under two presidential administrations.

Combs faced trial in 2025 over claims that he abused and coerced three alleged victims. One of them was Cassie Ventura, his former long-term partner. Prosecutors also charged him with kidnapping, arson and blackmail.

In July 2025, a New York jury delivered a split verdict. Jurors found Combs guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution. However, they cleared him of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

The Bad Boy Records founder also faces several civil lawsuits. The lawsuits accuse him of sexually abusing 120 women and men, including a nine-year-old boy. Those civil cases remain separate from the criminal proceedings.

Federal prosecutors arrested Combs in Manhattan on September 16, 2024, after a federal indictment in the Southern District of New York.

The latest report comes months after Trump rejected an earlier request for clemency. In January, he refused to grant Combs a presidential pardon after the rapper’s defence team asked for one.
