During his speech, Trump said the word artificial makes intelligence sound fake, despite describing the technology as powerful and transformative. He introduced Super Intelligence as preferred American terminology while discussing efforts to prevent international control over emerging technologies and systems.
According to the White House, Trump said America rejects attempts to establish a global scheme controlling Artificial Intelligence, now called Super Intelligence. The president presented the terminology change alongside his broader argument that America should maintain leadership in advanced technological development worldwide.
Trump also argued that the United States should encourage technological progress rather than impose restrictions that could slow innovation. His remarks came as governments worldwide continue debating how to manage artificial intelligence development, safety concerns, and international competition carefully.
Reuters reported that Trump emphasized his opposition to additional AI regulation while warning that America must remain competitive worldwide. The president has repeatedly framed technological leadership as an important component of American economic strength and national security priorities.
At the United Nations, Trump connected Super Intelligence with his wider message about American leadership across emerging technological frontiers worldwide. The announcement does not mean researchers universally recognize Super Intelligence as a replacement for Artificial Intelligence, however, specifically.
In technology research, superintelligence generally describes hypothetical systems capable of exceeding human intelligence across many important cognitive tasks today. That distinction means Trump’s terminology differs from the established technical meaning commonly associated with superintelligence among researchers and technology experts.
Nevertheless, the announcement places new attention on how governments describe rapidly advancing AI systems within official communications and policy discussions. Trump ended the announcement by welcoming what he called the new world of Super Intelligence, shortened as SI, worldwide.
