Lawal Ademola Rauf, Toluwanisings’ paternal uncle, shared the family’s position during a conversation with media personality Dunmininu. According to him, the family wants authorities to investigate the singer’s death before his burial.
Rauf appealed to the government, religious leaders and the public to intervene. The family, he said, is still grieving and wants answers about what led to the singer’s death.
“We need people to intervene because Toluwanisings’ death is hurting us. We are calling on everyone, including the government and religious leaders, to help us investigate what killed him. We, the Olayemi family, are pleading to know the cause of his death and asking the government to help us pursue the matter legally,” he said.
He also urged the burial organisers to suspend their plans. The family, he added, would cover the mortuary fees for as long as necessary.
“Nobody should decide to bury him for now because we are still grieving, and the family has decided not to bury him yet. We are ready to pay the mortuary fees for as long as necessary. When we are ready, we want him to be buried at his home in Ibadan.”
Burial plans amid unanswered questions
Meanwhile, Toluwanisings’ colleagues have announced a night of tributes in his honour. The event is scheduled for October 27 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Although the organisers have not publicly announced the burial arrangements, reports indicate that the funeral was scheduled for Wednesday.
The family’s demand follows an account of the singer’s final moments by his personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo.
According to Gbolabo, Toluwanisings was “fine and in perfect condition” before he suddenly slumped. Attempts to resuscitate him followed, and people took him to eight hospitals in Ibadan.
However, the personal assistant said all eight hospitals refused to admit the singer, giving various reasons.
The family wants a legal investigation to establish the cause of his death before proceeding with the burial.
