Supreme Court Upholds Death Sentence For Reverend King

Reverend Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, popularly known as Reverend King was once the head of the Christian Praying Assembly in Lagos.

Peculiar for his long beard and his insistence that members address him as ‘His Holiness’, Reverend King’s church operated like a cult.

His fame came to an end in 2006 after he was charged to court for the murder of Ann Uzoh as well as the attempted murder of five other church members.

The Lagos state High Court had found him guilty and sentenced him to death by hanging.

However, Reverend King challenged the court’s decision and yesterday, Nigeria’s apex court upheld the death sentence.

The Supreme court avowed that Rev. King’s appeal lacked merit and the ruling described some of Rev. King’s actions as horrific.
