The Cross River State Governor, Prof Ben Ayade, on Tuesday locked out three commissioners for failing to be at their duty posts as early as 8am.
The governor paid an unscheduled visit to Ministries of Agriculture, Water Resources, Women Affairs and Sustainable Development.
Out of the four ministries visited by the Governor on Tuesday, only the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Stella Odey, was on hand to receive him. At the Ministry of Agriculture, where Ayade first visited, the commissioner, Prof. Egrinya Eneji, and his directors were unavailable to receive him, with no explanation given for their absence.
Gabe Odu Orji of the Ministry of Water Resources, was also not on duty at the time of the governor’s visit. Oliver Orok of the ministry of Sustainable Development, had yet to report for work, when the governor called.
The visibly enraged Governor thereafter ordered that the commissioners be locked out. Ayade, who expressed his disappointment at the seeming lack of dedication to duty by the various heads of the ministries, commended Odey for what he described as her devotion to duty.
