Julius Agwu recalls brain tumour surgery, says friends deserted him

Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu has opened up about surviving a brain tumour and the challenges he faced after undergoing surgery, saying some of his friends abandoned him during his health battle.

Agwu spoke about his experience during an appearance on the Beer Parlour show, where he recounted undergoing surgery to remove a malignant tumour from his brain in 2015.

“There are no rumours about my health. It is true; I just wanted to cool down before addressing it. I had a tumour surgery in 2015, a brain surgery,” he said.

The comedian said his health problems continued after the surgery when he travelled to London for a show in 2016.

“After that, I travelled to London to do a show; just two days before the show, I was rushed to the hospital; that was in 2016. I was in a coma for 3 months. I thank God I am alive”.

Agwu also recalled feeling abandoned by people close to him during the difficult period.

“Sometimes, I just think, what type of life am I living? During that surgery, my friends deserted me, stopped talking to me, even my manager left and stole my money.”

The comedian said the effects of the brain surgery also affected his memory, leaving him unable to remember many things.

“I forget so many things because of the brain surgery,” he added.

Agwu has previously spoken about his health struggles, but his latest comments offer more insight into the difficult period surrounding his brain tumour surgery and recovery.
