Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that another “Deadpool” movie will eventually happen. The actor also hinted that the next film could explore lesser-known stories from the character’s comic book history.

Speaking during a panel at Fanatics Fest over the weekend, Reynolds said there is still plenty of material left to bring to the screen.

Reynolds Teases Untapped Comic Stories

“There are a few really deep cuts that I think are missing from the movies. I think a few deep cuts are missing from some of the comics,” Reynolds said.

“There’s certainly some stuff that I love that Fabian wrote that is incredible [and] Gerry Duggan, another friend and incredible comic writer, that we can put in. But then there’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, you know, remotely another ‘Deadpool’ film. So it’s going to be great.”

The comments come after the success of 2024’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which brought Deadpool and Wolverine together on the big screen.

Deadpool May Not Remain the Main Focus

Although Reynolds has started writing ideas for the character’s return, he recently suggested that Deadpool may not lead future stories.

“I have some stuff kind of written, but I don’t think I am ever going to centre him again,” Reynolds said during an appearance on “Sunday Today” in April.

“He is a supporting character. He is a guy who is great in a group.”

Why Deadpool Must Stay an Outsider

Reynolds has also addressed rumours linking Deadpool to Marvel’s upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday.” While speculation continues, he believes the character works best outside major superhero teams.

“If he becomes either, we’re at the end,” Reynolds said.

“Deadpool works so well appearing with the X-Men and Avengers, but he always needs to stay an outsider. His ultimate dream is to be accepted and appreciated. But he can’t be accepted. His coping mechanism of deflecting shame through humour works only when used to pave over his many inadequacies. If and when he does become an Avenger or X-Man, we’re at the end of his journey.”

For now, fans can look forward to another Deadpool movie, even if Reynolds keeps details about the project under wraps.
