Uganda’s incumbent President, Yoweri Museveni has won his fifth term after election results were announced in Uganda today.
Museveni has ruled Uganda for 30 years and his latest election victory extends his tenure even further.
71-year-old Museveni won 60.75% of the vote while his nearest rival Kizza Besigye polled just 35%
Kizza Besigye criticized the election results and said in a statement, ” We have just witnessed what must be the most fraudulent electoral process in Uganda,”
Besigye is currently under house arrest after allegations that he contravened electoral laws.
