A lot of controversy has surrounded Nigeria’s 2016 appropriation bill. It was reported ‘missing’ from the National Assembly a week ago with counter claims that the budget was withdrawn by the Presidency.
Reports indicate that President Muhammadu Buhari has formally written to the National Assembly to withdraw the 2016 approriation bill.
The proposed budget is said to contain errors which the Presidency wishes to correct.
Earlier in the week, former Central Bank Governor, Chukwuma Soludo alleged that the 2016 budget proposal is merely a copy of the 2015 budget.
The appropriation bill has come under heavy public criticism as it contains ridiculous expenses across all ministries.
It remains unclear when the Presidency will submit the corrected appropriation bill.
