Pope Francis Speaks Out Against The ‘Rejection’ Of Migrants

The Leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis has spoken out against those who have refused to offer assistance to migrants in his Easter Sunday address.

His comments come just a few days after he washed and kissed the feet of some migrants at a mass on Thursday.ย

Pope Francisย said in Rome today, “The Easter message of the risen Christ… invites us not to forget those men and women seeking a better future, an ever more numerous throng of migrants and refugees… fleeing from war, hunger, poverty and social injustice.

All too often, these brothers and sisters of ours meet along the way with death or, in any event, rejection by those who could offer them welcome and assistance.”

Although migrants were initially enthusiastically received by Germany, many European nations have refused to take in migrants and have adopted a belligerent attitude towards them.

The Pope also condemned the terror attacks in Brussels and other parts of the world as he said:ย “May the risen Jesus Christ draw us closer on this Easter feast to the victims of terrorism, that blind and brutal form of violence which continues to shed blood in different parts of the world.”
