The head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis has published a new document issuing guidelines to priests as well as all Catholics on family life.
The 236 page document is titled Amoris Laetitia” (“The Joy of Love”) expounds the Pope’s views on marriage, contraception and raising children.
The Pope has increasingly stressed the need for the Catholic Church and Priests to take culture into consideration even as they spread the gospel.
There are no significant liberal changes in the doctrines of the Catholic Church in the new document. The gay community will be particularly disappointed as the document states, “as to unions between homosexual persons on the same level as marriage, there are absolutely no grounds for considering homosexual unions to be in any way similar or even remotely analogous to God’s plan for marriage and family.”
On family life, the pope says, “Young married couples should be encouraged to develop a routine that gives a healthy sense of closeness and stability through shared daily rituals,”
“These could include a morning kiss, an evening blessing, waiting at the door to welcome each other home, taking trips together and sharing household chores. Yet it also helps to break the routine with a party, and to enjoy family celebrations of anniversaries and special events.”
