While attending a high-profile wedding in Anambra State, veteran Nollywood icon Pete Edochie recently discussed the cultural significance of traditional marriages in Igbo community.
The wedding, which took place on Monday, April 21, 2025, and brought together Ugo and Kene—who are supposedly the children of affluent businessmen—was an absolute show.
The lavishness and presentation of Igbo cultural aspects attracted a lot of attention to the wedding.
Pete Edochie spoke to the crowd during the ceremony, emphasising the importance of traditional marriage in Igbo culture.
The esteemed actor underlined in Igbo that these kinds of ceremonies are not merely formalities but rather deeply ingrained cultural customs that should not be disregarded.

The actual wedding was a lavish event. While her groom, Ugo, turned heads by arriving with a lion’s head thrown over his shoulder—a symbol of strength and authority—the bride, Kene, made a royal entry while carrying a golden chair.
Online admirers dubbed him “Odogwu Paranran” after his entrance.
