Omah Lay has shared the story behind discovering rising talent Elmah, revealing that the moment came unexpectedly while scrolling through TikTok.

He recalled that he wasn’t actively searching for new artists at the time, but Elmah’s video immediately stood out. Her voice, he said, was striking from the very first listen, describing her as “beautiful” with an “amazing sound” that felt both unique and effortless. He added that there was something almost spiritual about her presence, referring to her as “an angel,” while also noting that she is proudly Igbo.

The singer explained that the encounter marked a rare moment in his career. According to him, it was the first time he felt a genuine desire to sign an artist. Seeing her perform reminded him of how his own journey began, especially the raw and unstructured process behind his early projects. In Elmah, he said, he didn’t just hear talent, he saw clear star potential.

Driven by that conviction, Omah Lay revealed that he made a personal decision to support her in ways he had never experienced himself. He said his goal is not to shape or control her artistry, but to serve as a platform that helps her voice reach a wider audience. “I’ll be the vessel,” he explained, emphasising that her uniqueness is what the world needs to hear.
