Olivia Miles has set a new WNBA rookie scoring record, surpassing Caitlin Clark’s previous mark of 769 points this season. The Minnesota Lynx guard reached 770 points during matchup against the Connecticut Sun, breaking Clark’s record with a quarter free throw.
Miles entered the contest tied with Clark at 769 points, needing one successful scoring play to claim the historic record. Her record-breaking basket arrived 29 seconds into the second quarter, placing Miles alone atop the WNBA rookie scoring record books.
The 23-year-old guard finished Minnesota’s 101-89 victory with 21 points, six assists, and seven successful field goals from ten attempts. Clark’s previous record was established during an outstanding 2024 rookie campaign, when she finished that season with 769 points for Indiana.
Interestingly, both Miles and Clark reached their respective rookie scoring milestones after appearing in exactly 40 games during their campaigns. Miles entered her performance averaging nearly 20 points, six assists, and five rebounds while helping Minnesota maintain the league’s best record.
Earlier this season, Miles surpassed Clark’s rookie three-point record after making eight three-pointers against the Golden State Valkyries in June. Additionally, the Lynx rookie became the fastest player to reach 350 points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists across 21 games.
Her achievement strengthens an already impressive debut season, with Miles earning All-Star recognition while becoming Minnesota’s leading rookie scorer. With the milestone secured, Olivia Miles holds the WNBA rookie scoring record, while Clark’s 769-point mark moves into second place.
