Jhené Aiko’s first Billboard 200 No. 1 arrives as Westside Whimsy debuts atop the chart dated September 26, 2026, officially. The R&B singer earned 74,000 equivalent album units during the tracking week ending September 17, according to Luminate data.
Westside Whimsy marks Aiko’s first chart-topping album after nearly thirteen years since she first entered Billboard 200 history. Her Billboard journey began with Sail Out, which debuted and peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200 in 2013.
Previously, Aiko came closest to reaching number one when Chilombo debuted at number two back in 2020. That project later earned an Album of the Year Grammy nomination, further establishing Aiko’s position within contemporary R&B music.
Released September 11, Westside Whimsy arrived only three days after Aiko officially announced the album to her fans. The 20-track project features collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Larry June, Tyga, and OHMA across several songs.
Streaming powered most of the album’s opening performance, contributing 70,000 equivalent units from 71.33 million official on-demand streams. Additionally, the project generated 3,500 traditional album sales and 500 track-equivalent album units during its opening week.
Westside Whimsy also becomes the first R&B album by a woman to lead Billboard’s 200 chart during 2026. Notably, the achievement follows SZA’s SOS, which became the previous female R&B album topping the chart in May 2025.
For Aiko, this Billboard 200 milestone adds another major achievement to a career spanning more than a decade. Jhené Aiko Billboard 200 milestone also gives her sixth overall top-ten album since entering the chart in 2013.
