Rixel Studios has officially unveiled the ‘Black Market film’ trailer ahead of its historic Guinness World Record premiere. Following the announcement, excitement has continued building around the upcoming feature film and its ambitious Lagos premiere.
Written by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed and Fatimah Binta Gimsay, Black Market will premiere on September 26, 2026. The event will take place at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, Nigeria, with thousands expected to attend.
Furthermore, Rixel Studios will collaborate with Filmone Studios, Signet Ring Studios and Switch Visuals Production for the landmark screening. Together, the partners aim to host 50,000 people for one screening of Black Market at the same location.
This Guinness World Records attempt will target the existing record of 43,000 people screening one film at a single location. Shot in Abeokuta, Nigeria, Black Market brings together several notable Nigerian actors under director Fatimah Gimsay’s creative leadership.
The cast features Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Itele D Icon, Scarlet Gomez, Omowunmi Dada and Teniola Aladese. Additionally, Susan Pwajok, Uzor Arukwe, Folagade Banks and Tomiwa Tegbe join the ensemble cast for the highly anticipated production.
Andrew Yaw Bunting, Shamz Garuba and Adeoluwa Akintoba also feature among the actors appearing in the movie.
Meanwhile, Gimsay reflected on the journey from developing the script to finally seeing the story become a completed film. “It is so surreal when you go from what is in your head and see it come to life,” Gimsay said.
She explained that the team explored different script versions before finding one that successfully brought their creative tones together. “It finally felt different,” she said, describing the final version as a stronger combination of their individual creative approaches.
Moreover, the event has attracted support from MTN, Puma, Swoop, PlaystreetNG, Oraimo and Shuttlers. The Lagos State Ministry of Culture also partners with the production team for the major September premiere.With the trailer now available, attention will turn toward the September 26 event and its Guinness World Record ambition.
