NURTW Factions Unleash Mayhem In Oshodi

OshodiBattle3The National Union Of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has never been known to be the most peaceful of organisations, and today, Lagosians experienced this knowledge first hand on Tuesday.

Factions of the NURTW clashed today at the Mosafejo area of Oshodi-Isale in Lagos. Stalls in the area were burnt while four people were reportedly killed.

Several buses were also torched and damaged. The intervention of security agencies prevented the escalation of violence as the Police manned the area with an armoured van.

Three rival gangs of the NURTW are said to have been engaged in a war of superiority as they struggle to exert control over the lucrative motor parks.

A sort of cautious calm reigned over the area today with a few stalls still abandoned and some unfortunate traders still counting their losses.
