A Nigerian student, Oyesomi Fatimah, has won the Build Africa 2020 Career Presentation Competition which held virtually on 3rd and 4th June, 2020. The student, who is from the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Federal University Oye Ekiti, won the cash prize of N100,000 as well as a free UK Institute of Hospitality student membership registration.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Kayode Soremekun has reacted to the news by saying, “This is a welcomed and positive development. Though the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management is still young in our equally young University, what it clearly demonstrates is that our colleagues in that Department have already started to cultivate a culture of excellence which is commendable. I urge them to continue the good work, such that we will continue to have a University to boast about.
“And to the Student Fatimah who has made us proud by winning this award, I am saying Congratulations. Please do not rest on your oars. There are greater heights for you and other students to conquer.”
The Competition, which was organized for students studying Hospitality and Tourism Management in tertiary institutions across Africa, was hosted by the Build Afrika Organization. The aim of the Organization is to promote travel, tourism and hospitality education in Africa.
