Nicolas Cage Breaks Down ‘Spider-Noir’ Finale Deaths, Action Scenes and Season 2 Prospects

SPOILER ALERT: This story contains spoilers from the Season 1 finale of “Spider-Noir.”

Nicolas Cage has shared details about the dramatic ending of “Spider-Noir.” The actor discussed the death of a major character, the show’s action scenes, Ben Reilly’s sacrifice, and whether a second season could happen.

Silvermane Meets His End

The eight-episode Prime Video series ends with several twists. One of the biggest is the death of Irish crime boss Finn Byrne, also known as Silvermane.

The villain dies during a tense showdown in a hall of mirrors. The scene pays tribute to classic films, including Orson Welles’ “The Lady from Shanghai.”

According to Cage, “The Lady from Shanghai’ is very apparent. I also love ‘Enter the Dragon’, and the hall of mirrors sequence at the end, and that’s all borrowing from Welles.”

Explosive Final Battle

The finale also features a major battle involving The Spider, Sandman and Megawatt.

Spider comes close to death during the fight. However, he survives and defeats Megawatt in one of the season’s biggest action moments.

The series combines superhero action with classic film noir elements. That blend helped make the final episode stand out.

Ben Reilly’s Sacrifice

The emotional heart of the finale comes when Ben Reilly lets Cat Hardy go.

Instead of pursuing a relationship with her, Ben gives Sandman the antidote that removes his powers. The decision allows Sandman and Cat to have a future together.

Reflecting on the moment, Cage said, “I think Ben Reilly knows it’s useless. Cat doesn’t love him, it’s as simple as that. Am I gonna be the guy who keeps pursuing someone that’s not interested? No. Is it being selfless or is it just being real and letting her go?”

He added: “He wanted to forget about it and to put it away because he feels he failed the love of his life. Here he is, this person with powers, and he couldn’t save his favourite person, Ruby, so what’s the use? He has great remorse. But he has a higher calling, and he’s owning it.”

Will There Be a Season 2?

The season ends with Ben and Janet Ruiz opening their own detective agency. The ending leaves room for more stories.

Still, Cage says he does not know if the show will return.

“I do not know,” he said. “But I would say that whether it happens or not, all of us achieved what we set out to do, and it works on its own. We’ll see what happens.”
