As authorities work to make sense of the deadly bombing at the Boston Marathon, it’s become clear that victims of another tragedy might have been witness to the terror attack.
Families of the Newtown shooting victims were reportedly in the VIP stands close to the finish line, where the explosion occurred, but uninjured. Sandy Hook victims were honored at several points in the race, including a 26-second period of silence to open the event, and a special marker at the 26-mile point, dedicated to the 26 people killed in the massacre. Nine members of the Newtown community were reported to be running in the event as well.
