Michael Jordan’s Last Dance jersey sale has set a basketball memorabilia record, fetching $14 million in a private transaction announced Monday. Hunt Auctions announced the historic sale of Jordan’s autographed Chicago Bulls jersey, which he wore during Game Two of the 1998 NBA Finals.
Miami real estate investor Ron Firman purchased the iconic red jersey, adding another valuable piece of sports history to his collection. Jordan wore the jersey on June 5, 1998, scoring 37 points as Chicago defeated the Utah Jazz 93–88 in Salt Lake City.
That victory levelled the championship series at one game apiece, helping the Bulls continue their pursuit of another historic NBA championship. Chicago eventually defeated Utah in six games, securing Jordan’s sixth NBA championship and his sixth Finals Most Valuable Player award.
The 1997–98 season later inspired ‘The Last Dance’, a popular documentary series released in 2020 that chronicled Jordan’s final Bulls championship campaign. Collectors prize memorabilia from that season because it represents the closing chapter of Jordan’s legendary championship career with Chicago.
Jordan’s latest jersey sale surpassed the previous basketball memorabilia record, highlighting the extraordinary demand for items connected to his playing career. A different Jordan jersey from Game Three of the same Finals sold for $12.26 million in September 2026.
Another red jersey from Game One reached approximately $10.09 million at Sotheby’s in 2022, demonstrating sustained collector interest. Although Jordan’s jersey now leads basketball memorabilia sales, Babe Ruth’s 1932 World Series jersey remains the most expensive game-worn sports jersey.
That historic baseball jersey fetched $24.12 million in 2024, surpassing Jordan’s latest sale by more than ten million dollars. The record-breaking transaction reinforces Jordan’s enduring cultural influence, with collectors continuing to value artifacts linked to his extraordinary basketball achievements.
