Marriage Is Not on My Mind, Says Bloody Civilian

Nigerian singer Bloody Civilian says marriage is not a priority for her right now.

The 26-year-old artist made the revelation during a recent interview. She said her family often questions her about marriage and struggles to understand some of her decisions as a creative professional.

Bloody Civilian, whose real name is Emoseh Khamofu, said traditional expectations remain strong in her family because she comes from northern Nigeria.

“One thing my family still does not understand about being an artiste is the fact that certain conventional things that they expect of a woman from the north are just simply not things I’m excited to do,” she said.

The singer explained that marriage is one of the issues her relatives frequently raise.

“For instance, marriage is not something that I am thinking of at all, but that question keeps being brought up.”

Despite the pressure, Bloody Civilian remains focused on her music career and personal growth.

She is signed to 0207 Def Jam, the UK arm of Def Jam Recordings. Fans know her for songs such as ‘How To Kill A Man’ and ‘Wake Up’ featuring Rema.

The song ‘Wake Up’ appeared on the soundtrack of the 2022 superhero film ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’. The project helped boost her global profile.
