Nigerian rapper Ladipoe has disagreed with fellow rapper Ycee, saying education and intelligence are not the same thing. His reaction follows Ycee’s criticism of what he called an “olodo uprising” among Nigerian youths.
Ycee commented during a recent interview on the Afropolitan podcast. He said Nigerians no longer celebrate intelligence and academic excellence.
The rapper also criticised the “Peller culture.” He used the popular TikTok personality as an example of young people chasing fame through outrageous content instead of education.
Peller quickly responded to Ycee’s remarks.
“The same olodo uprising wey una dey use promote una noise, very anyhow OG. If you’re an elderly person, respect yourself. Must you mention names? You yourself are an illiterate because, as an elderly man with sense, you should be able to make your point without mentioning anyone’s name,” he wrote.
Ladipoe later shared his view on X. He said people should not judge intelligence by education alone.
“Education and intelligence aren’t the same thing. Some thoughtful people never had much access to school, and there are highly educated people who confidently spread nonsense,” he wrote.
