Kelly Krauskopf Steps Down as Indiana Fever President After 2026 Season

Kelly Krauskopf steps down as Indiana Fever president, ending a remarkable leadership chapter that helped shape the franchise’s history and championship success. Pacers Sports and Entertainment announced her departure on Friday, October 23, following the conclusion of the Fever’s 2026 WNBA campaign.

Krauskopf joined the organisation in 1999, helping establish Indiana’s basketball franchise before its inaugural season and becoming its original president and general manager. During her first tenure, the Fever made 13 postseason appearances, reached three WNBA Finals, and captured their first championship in 2012.

Her leadership also helped Indiana establish itself among the league’s most competitive teams, including a remarkable run of 12 consecutive playoff appearances. In 2018, Krauskopf moved to the Indiana Pacers, where she served as assistant general manager for six seasons and continued breaking barriers.

That appointment made her the first woman in NBA history to hold an executive basketball management role, marking a significant professional milestone. She returned to the Fever in 2024 as president of basketball and business operations, bringing extensive experience back to the franchise she helped build.

Under her renewed leadership, Indiana reached the WNBA semifinals in 2025 before returning to the playoffs during the 2026 season. However, the Fever’s 2026 campaign ended in the first round against the Las Vegas Aces, setting the stage for an important offseason.

Team owner Herb Simon praised Krauskopf’s vision, championship contribution, and lasting influence on women’s basketball throughout Indianapolis and the wider professional sporting community. In her departure statement, Krauskopf thanked Simon and colleagues, expressing confidence that the Fever possess a strong foundation for future growth and success.

Her legacy includes helping develop Indiana’s new $78 million performance centre, scheduled to open in March 2027, supporting the organisation’s long-term ambitions.
