The Katsina State Government has allocated a sum N200 million for empowerment and training of about 500 youths in the state, according to Governor Aminu Masari.
The governor made this statement on Tuesday in Katsina, while receiving an interim report of the state’s Economic and Investment Summit committee.
He said that the decision was aimed at making youths self-reliant and would enhance socio-economic activities in the state.
Masari said that his administration would continue to promulgate policies that would improve the living conditions of the people and urged the committee to involve local, small and medium-scale businesses in its activities.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur, said that the theme of the summit was ‘’unlocking the investment potential for sustainable development.’’
Tukur said that the committee identified agri-business, power, solid minerals, property development and tourism as potential investment sectors that the state had.
He further revealed that the committee would discuss with investors from countries like U.S.A., UK, Brazil, China, India,Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger Republic, among others.
