Accra, Ghana – Today, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, the new president of the West African country Ghana was inaugurated into office. John Dramani Mahama is the 14th person to take the oath of office as the President of Ghana, and the Nigerian head of state, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was at the inauguration.

A video from the inauguration of Ghana’s new President John Dramani Mahama has sparked massive reactions online after a comment the incoming Head of State made about President Tinubu went viral.

During John Dramani’s inauguration speech, he mistakenly called the ECOWAS chairman, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President of Ghana. He also noted during the speech that the Nigerian president was the special guest of honour at the inauguration.

Dramani’s slip of the tongue has sparked mixed reactions on social media. Nigerians have gone online to share their thoughts about the comment and their willingness to give President Tinubu to Ghanaians for free.

While have started using the comment as banter material for social media. In some of the clips making the rounds online, President Tinubu was also spotted speaking at the inauguration.

He advised the incoming Ghanaian President to practise a government of inclusivity while speaking on working together to improve the economic well-being of the different West African states under the umbrella of ECOWAS.
